We the students of GVMs Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education Farmagudi, Ponda Goa celebrated SCIENCE DAY on February 28. The preparation for this day began from past one month,various committee were made in order to share the responsibilities.
The theme of the science day was decided as “Science : Wonderment and Prowess”.The chief guest for the program was Dr.Anil Dhinge ex principal of P.E.S college.
The program began with inauguration of Science mela where we had displayed various science demonstrations and models.Two dark rooms were created to show space and marine related videos.
The formal function began with welcome song and presentation on Sir .C.V.Raman was presentedit included why Science day is celebrated and what is the significance of the day.
Followed by Presentation on sci fun in the form of video.
With the aim to promote interdisciplinary approach students from different subjects like language, history,geography presented how science is related to their respective subjects.
Teachers also participated in the function by giving one minute talk on some fun science topics.
The program also consisted of dance performance which made the audience groove to the music.
It was the most memorable day of the year.I had the opportunity to present three demonstrations in science mela , which was appreciated by everyone.

“EXPLORING SCIENCE”
National
Science Day was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm at G.V.M’s Dr. Dada
Vaidya College of Education, Ponda-Goa on 28th February 2019. The
Chief Guest for the function was Dr. Uday Gaunker (Deputy Director of
Education, South Goa, principal of Damodar higher secondary school Gudi Paroda,
Quepem-Goa and ex-Headmaster of Holy Cross Institute, Quepem-Goa). The function
was also graced by the presence of Dr. Allan Abreo – Principal of G.V.M’s Dr.
Dada Vaidya College of Education and Shri Bhaskar Khandeparker – President of
the G.V.M’s General Body.
The
First year and Second year B.Ed. Science students along with their mentor Dr. Anna
Neena George and I and Miss Reena Thakur being the leaders put
in great effort to organize this event. The theme kept for Science day was Exploring Science.
The
uniqueness of this day was the ‘Science Mela’ that was held from the ground to second
floor of the college building. This mela included a lot of varieties that
comprised of the following sections:

Chemistry demonstrations (8 demos)
·
Biology demonstrations (3 demos)
·
Biology exhibition (4 exhibits)
·
Green shelves (35 NASA certified plants
– 13 Air purifier & 22 medicinal)
·
Sci-fun corner (7 experiments)
·
Quiz corner and sound scapes
·
Mini Inox screening space and marine
videos
I had demonstrated the experiments Bromelain in pine apple and checking of vitamin C in fruits .Both my experiments were placed under biology demonstration section.
Students from VIVIDHA HIGHER SECONDARY had come to see our exhibition and all the students loved the array of demonstrations that we had arranged
For the students of our own college we had given an opportunity to express their love for science by showing co relation of science with their method subjects. Some students presented poetry , skit , presentation etc.
